Narcissism Unmasked, Part 5: Entitlement

Entitlement is one of the clearest markers of narcissism. A narcissist believes they deserve special treatment, privileges, or recognition — regardless of effort, merit, or responsibility. They expect the world to bend to their wants, and when it doesn’t, they lash out, blame others, or play the victim.

For Mark Anthony Stephens, entitlement isn’t subtle. It’s the backbone of his behavior.

What Entitlement Looks Like in Mark

  • Visitation Without Accountability
Mark demands access to his children while refusing to complete the court-ordered steps that would even make that possible. He wants the privileges of fatherhood without the responsibilities of safety, treatment, or support.
  • Child Support Avoidance
Nearly three years behind, Mark continues to dodge his financial obligations while expecting to still be treated as a father of standing. In his mind, support is optional, but respect and recognition are mandatory.
  • The House That Isn’t His
Mark has repeatedly claimed ownership over Tori’s home — a house he was never legally tied to. He speaks as if he should be “bought out,” ignoring the reality that it was awarded to her from a previous marriage. This is textbook entitlement: claiming something that isn’t his while contributing nothing toward it.
  • Special Rules for Him
From ignoring doctors’ orders to dismissing legal judgments, Mark behaves as though the rules don’t apply to him. Judges, coaches, doctors, pastors — all wrong, all biased. Why? Because in his mind, he deserves exemption.

The Reality Behind the Mask

Entitlement isn’t strength — it’s weakness disguised as arrogance. By demanding privileges without fulfilling obligations, Mark shows his children that he values appearances over integrity. He isn’t teaching them responsibility; he’s modeling resentment.

The truth is simple: being a father is not a title you demand, it’s a role you earn. Entitlement has blinded Mark to that reality. Until he trades his “owed to me” mindset for humility and action, his relationships will remain broken and his legacy empty.

This is the fifth mask removed: Entitlement.
Next, we’ll uncover the narcissist’s willingness to exploit others — and how Mark repeatedly takes advantage of those around him for his own gain.
