Today’s Sermon: Projection, Hypocrisy, and Hulkamania

It’s always an experience when Mark Anthony Stephens turns the tragedies or triumphs of others into a platform for his own storytelling. Today, however, his posts took a more somber turn—with the news of Hulk Hogan’s death at 71. And while Hogan’s passing is real and deeply felt by millions, Mark’s tribute still somehow managed to center himself.

Let’s break down today’s Greatest Hits:

1. “You’re Still Married!” – Said the Man Who’s Had Court Orders Just to Stay Away

Mark begins the day with another unsolicited theology lesson about “bigamy” and “spiritual adultery.” His message? If you’ve spiritually remarried while still legally married—you’re an adulterer. Ironically, this sermon comes from someone who:

  • Has four restraining/no-contact orders tied to his name
  • Was unable or unwilling to meet basic court-ordered financial responsibilities
  • Took years to finalize a divorce while weaponizing the term “wife” on social media to smear the very person trying to leave him

It’s always fascinating to see someone twist scripture like balloon animals to fit whatever vendetta they’re airing that week.

2. “Great Dads Build Great Families” – But Do They Also Ignore Their Kids and Avoid Paying for Them?

Mark then hits us with a Promise Keepers post about how great dads make great families. It’s a warm, fuzzy message—until you remember this is coming from a man who:

  • Owes tens of thousands in back child support
  • Has interfered with medical care, mocked professional psychiatric evaluations, and
  • Has failed repeatedly to show up as a present or consistent father

This isn’t a message of inspiration. It’s a camouflage net—hoping virtue signaling will cover the wreckage of actual parenting.

3. Hulk Hogan Has Passed – And Mark Made It About Himself

Today, the world lost an icon. Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) passed away at 71 from cardiac arrest in Florida. His death was confirmed by family and news outlets across the globe. Hogan was more than a wrestler—he was a cultural phenomenon who defined generations of entertainment.

But rather than let the moment speak for itself, Mark seized it as an opportunity to insert himself into the narrative—claiming he once had a deep and spiritually aligned conversation with Hogan, bonding over divorce and restoration.

Let’s be honest:

  • There’s no record or corroboration of this conversation.
  • Hogan, despite his very public life, never mentioned Mark—or anything remotely resembling this alleged connection.

And the truth is: If it had actually happened, Mark would’ve milked that encounter for years.

We’d have seen:

  • Dozens of selfies, each one filtered, captioned, and posted monthly with hashtags like #HulkSavedMe and #WrestlingForChrist
  • A back-cover endorsement on Mark’s future “book” from “Brother Hogan” himself
  • Merchandise: “Tag-Teaming with Jesus: The Mark & Hulk Testimony Tour”
  • Sermons about “that one time Hulk Hogan told me I was anointed”
  • And reposts every July 24 with “never before seen footage” that somehow never surfaces

But instead? Nothing. Not a word—until Hogan died. Suddenly, Mark’s “spiritual Hulk encounter” is retroactively inserted into his highlight reel. That’s not tribute. That’s narrative theft.

4. “Why Is a Father Only Valued for His Wallet?” – asks the Man Who Brings Nothing Else

In another post, Mark laments how fathers are seen only for financial support. While that can be a fair point in some contexts, let’s not forget:

  • He hasn’t paid.
  • He hasn’t shown up.
  • He’s used legal systems, social media, and religious language to avoid responsibility.

If you contribute neither time nor money nor emotional support, you don’t get to complain that the system only sees you for your wallet. It’s not seeing your wallet—it’s noticing the empty space where responsibility should be.

Closing Thoughts

Today was a day to mourn the loss of a real legend. Instead, Mark used it to project heroism onto himself—spiritually photoshopping himself into a moment he didn’t belong in. And that’s the thread tying all these posts together: projection.

  • He speaks of faith while dodging accountability.
  • He claims victimhood while inflicting harm.
  • He calls out sins he loudly lives in.

And just as this blog was published—as if on cue—Mark posted a meme that reads: “A Narc will smear your name because they fear the truth coming out.” The meme is tagged with #markstephens, unintentionally labeling himself while accusing others of the very thing he does daily.

The irony? He posted it less than an hour after publicly smearing his ex-wife and the mother of his children on the same platform—part of a well-documented pattern of defamation, harassment, and blame-shifting.

This wasn’t just projection. It was a full-on attempt at self-exoneration through preemptive gaslighting. He’s not afraid of being lied about. He’s afraid of being believed against.
